<p><strong><img src="http://www.tim-baker.com/images/portrait1.jpg" border="0" alt="" hspace="6" vspace="6" width="83" height="118" align="left"/> Tim Baker is a multi-award winning theatre director and playwright based in Wales. </strong>Tim has directed for the National Theatre (London) and twice for the Theatr Genedlaethol (National Theatre of Wales). Tim works in both English and Welsh, and has directed productions as far afield as Japan, Oregon and Catalonia. Currently Tim is Associate Director of Clwyd Theatr Cymru, Wales’ largest producing theatre, and also Artistic Director of the National Youth Theatre of Wales. Amongst Tim’s awards are Best Director from the Liverpool Daily Post in 2001, and a major Welsh Arts Council Creative Wales Award of £25,000 in 2007, enabling him to travel worldwide exploring theatre in small nations. Tim will be travelling to Patagonia in April on a major research project, in collaboration with <a href="http://www.menterpatagonia.org/cymraeg/newyddion.php">Menter Patagonia</a>. </p> <img class="align-left" src="http://www.tim-baker.com/../images/Menter%20Patagonia.jpg" alt="" width="204" height="27"><p><a href="http://www.menterpatagonia.org/"></a>As a playwright, Tim has written and adapted extensively for the stage, including adaptations of John Steinbeck’s <em><strong>The Grapes of Wrath</strong></em> and Dickens’s<strong><em> Great Expectations</em></strong> (both published by Josef Weinberger). The Grapes of Wrath is being produced by <a href="http://www.blt.org.uk" target="_blank">Bolton Little Theatre</a> in March 2011. </p> <img class="align-left" src="http://www.tim-baker.com/../images/Bolton%20Publicity.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="113"><p>Tim has also adapted Dickens's <strong><em>Hard Times,</em></strong> George Eliot’s <strong><em>Silas Marner,</em></strong> <strong><em>A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Dog, A Child’s Christmas in Wales</em></strong> by Dylan Thomas and <strong><em>Morality Play</em></strong><span> </span>by Barry Unsworth. <p>In July 2011 Tim will direct a major production for the National Eisteddfod based on James Mollinson's amazing collection of pictures of children from all over the world and where they sleep. </p>
